Mauritius rail operator chooses TETRA
Sepura partner Consort Digital has supplied TETRA communications to the island of Mauritius’ new Metro Express.
An initial 13-kilometre section of the new line is already operational, located between Port Luis and Rose Hill on the island. The second phase to Curepipe will be completed in 2021. In its early stages, the service is expected to move around 25,000 passengers a day.
Speaking of the deployment, Devdarsh Jain, chief operations officer of Consort Digital said: “The Metro operators required robust radios that could withstand harsh treatment around maintenance machinery, and would be heavily used by station operators and cleaning teams. We had no hesitation in proposing a Sepura solution for this purpose and as expected they are providing outstanding support.”
Business development manager for Asia, Koh Cheng Soi said: “The Mauritius Metro adds to our growing portfolio of major transport operators deploying Sepura radios to ensure that staff are safe and operations are well managed.”
Consort Digital also worked with infrastructure supplier DAMM on the roll-out.
