Radio giant helps bring through next generation of engineers

02/08/2019

Communications manufacturer Sepura has shown support for the next generation of industry talent, with Andrea Morreale from its test engineering team recently attending Blackbird Leys Campus at the City of Oxford College to help mentor engineering students.

Andrea visited the college following a request from engineering lecturer Habib Rahman, who completed a period of work experience with Sepura seven years ago. Morreale is one of the company’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) ambassadors.

According to Sepura, his presentation was designed to inspire students about the potential of a career in engineering. He also described ‘a day in the life’ of a test engineer at Sepura, demonstrating the use of specification documents, highlighting the value of testing and so on.

Commenting on the day, Andrea said: “It is always a refreshing experience to spend time with future engineers, to enable them to see the enormous potential in the UK’s engineering sector. Sepura is such an enriching environment to work in, with real value placed on engineering excellence to help to deliver critical communications solutions to public safety organisations.

“For the students to see the potential of this, and how STEM roles contribute to a company, was fascinating. We look forward to running future similar courses for more engineers of the future.”
