08/11/2019

Zebra Technologies has acquired Cortexia Vision Systems, a developer of “business-to-business computer vision-based artificial intelligence solutions.”

According to Zebra, capabilities enabled by the Cortexica technology include object recognition, as well as image and video analysis. “Cortexica brings robust technology capabilities and a talented team of engineers, giving Zebra an opportunity to enhance its next-generation offerings,” claimed the company.

Speaking of the acquisition, chief executive officer of Zebra Technologies Anders Gustafsson said: “[This] further advances our enterprise asset intelligence by enabling our customers to operate more effectively in increasingly automated, data-powered environments.

“Cortexica provides customers with greater visibility into the status of assets at the operational edge of their businesses through vision-based sensing and advanced analytics capabilities. [The technology] will enhance the ‘sense’ and ‘analyse’ layers of Zebra’s ‘Sense-Analyse-Act” framework.”
